Always Curious
Born in 1970, I grew up in a time of huge technological breakthroughs; both in the commercial world and at home.

Whether it was simplifying food preparation by using microwave ovens or using the same technology to send simultaneous TV and data signals across the country, it was a time of great excitement for those of us with curious minds.

Between 1970 and the millennium, a wonderful mix of electro-mechanical, solid state home entertainment equipment launches into markets across the globe.
My aim is to bring you a small slice of this tech in AVRevival.
My Story
Raised in the Midlands, a post-industrial part of the UK, I was exposed to family members formerly employed in heavy industry and engineering. Before the closure of these industries, a high level of disposable income in the area led to every high street having at least one shop selling electro -domestics, small appliances or radio and television products.
Before the days of 'big box' retailers and the internet, Department Stores were havens of high-end technology and whilst Mom shopped on the fashion floors, Dad and myself browsed endlessly the Audio Visual departments with their 'new' brands - Sony, JVC, National Panasonic, Mitsubishi and Bang & Olufsen.

I guess this 'window shopping' along with visiting the leading Hifi shows in Wolverhampton, Harrogate and Bristol not only deepened my knowledge and understanding of tech, but made a career in the sector a distinct probability! Winning a Marantz CD63 on launch day of the Compact Disc format almost certainly sealed my fate for the years ahead!

Forty years later, a pause in the 'day job' and a move to rural North Yorkshire has led to AVRevival. A place where I can bring my broad experience in the sector to those looking to dip-in to retro tech or re-visit formats and products that were missed the first time around.
